Wyze cameras are reasonably priced and pretty reliable. And that’s what makes them a preferable choice among smart homeowners.
Despite its amazing features, Wyze can still run into problems like other devices. For instance, a problem like a Wyze camera flashing blue and yellow.
Luckily, I’ve found a couple of solutions to this problem.
So you can resolve this Wyze camera flashing yellow and blue issue as quickly as I did.
That said, let’s go through each of the solutions one by one!
Solution 1: Power Cycle the Wyze Camera
Generally, your Wyze cam blinks blue and yellow because it’s trying to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Until the cam doesn’t turn to solid blue light, it means it’s stuck while trying to establish the connection.
When this happens, the first thing you need to do is to restart the Wyze cam.
In other technical words, you’ve to power cycle your Wyze camera.
If you don’t already know how to do that, just follow this simple step-by-step procedure:
Step 1: Unplug the Wyze camera from the power source
Step 2: Wait for several seconds
Step 3: Plug it back in
Step 4: Now, try connecting it again to see if it turns to solid blue light.
Treat this method as a quick fix as it sometimes fixes the glitches and refreshes the device. If it doesn’t work, move to other solutions.
Solution 2: Remove and re-add the cam
Another way to fix this yellow and blue Wyze cam flashing is to remove the cam from the Wyze app. So if you’ve set up the cam but it’s not connecting, remove it and re-add it.
For those who don’t know how to do it, here’s the step-by-step guide.
Remove the Wyze camera from the app
Step 1: Launch the Wyze app
Step 2: Select the camera that’s blinking blue and yellow
Step 3: In the top right corner, click the gear icon to access the camera’s settings
Step 4: Find the “Delete device” option and tap it
Step 5: Now, confirm you want to delete the camera by tapping “Delete”
Add the Wyze camera to the app again
After you’ve deleted the cam, it’s time to re-add it to the app
Step 1: Close the app and launch it again
Step 2: Tap the “+” on the home menu screen
Step 3: Click “Add Camera” and follow the setup process
Now, check to see if the camera connects to the Wi-Fi after this procedure.
Solution 3: Separate 2.4 GHz and 5GHz networks
Many of us use hybrid networks of 2.4 and 5GHz in our smart homes.
But many smart devices work with 2.4 GHz including your Wyze cam.
So, in order to connect your Wyze cam, you should split your dual network.
Here’s how my approach to changing the network bands.
Step 1: First, find the IP address by typing “ipconfig” in Command Prompt.
Step 2: Copy the digits of Default Gateway (it’s your IP address) and paste them into the browser.
Step 3: Type in your Username and Password and hit “login.”
Step 4: Look for a setting that separates your 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. For example, this setting can be called “Network,” “Wireless Mode,” or “Wireless Network Name.”
Step 5: Turn off the setting that allows both networks to share the same name. And enable the 2.4 GHz mode only.
Step 6: Rename your 2.4GHz network to something unique. This will give each network a unique name and allow you to connect devices to the network of your choice.
Step 7: Now try to connect your Wyze camera to this newly named 2.4GHz network. This can be done by going to your camera’s settings in the Wyze app and selecting “Wi-Fi Settings.” Choose your newly named 2.4GHz network and enter the password. It should solve the Wyze camera flashing yellow and blue issue!
Solution 4: Change the Wi-Fi password length
Believe it or not, but sometimes updating to the latest firmware can bring about new problems. Other times, it’s just new bugs in the app!
If your Wyze cam was working fine before the firmware update, it’s likely the firmware problem.
One way to fix it is to change your Wi-Fi password. But make sure to change the password length to 31 characters.
And then try to connect the Wyze camera to see if the blinking yellow and blue changes to yellow.
Solution 4: Contact Wyze Support
Before you toss the Wyze cam out, I recommend that you contact Wyze Support. They’ll troubleshoot your device for any glitches and bugs. So you stop getting frustrated about, “Why is my Wyze camera blinking blue and yellow?”
Last Solution: Get a new one
If the problem of the Wyze camera flashing yellow and blue persists, it could be because the device is faulty. But before you sell or give it away, you should reset your Wyze camera.
And it’s time to consider getting a new Wyze cam. Or if it’s a new one, get a replacement!
So you’ve two choices – get a replacement or a new one!
